Ten connected sessions

Creative Journey

Explore the ten-session co-production journey shaping the Mancunianity Flows River Irwell walking experience.

The session titles are working titles. Outcomes are not predetermined: the Weavers may alter, challenge, combine, reject or reframe ideas as the project develops.

1. Starting the Web

Build trust, introduce the project frame and begin identifying questions, places and ways of working.

2. Personal Cartographies

Map meaningful journeys, landmarks and changes without requiring personal disclosure.

3. River Irwell Walk through Peel Park

Explore the river as ecology, boundary, route, memory and public space.

4. People’s History Museum Visit and Reflection

A planned visit, including a guided element if confirmed, followed by private reflection about evidence, authorship and public voice.

5. Loving and Arguing with a Place

Make room for affection, criticism, contradiction, humour and contested belonging.

6. Route Laboratory

Test a possible route from Aviva Studios into Manchester and Salford, examining pace, transitions and audience experience.

7. Public History and Personal Counterpoint

Place researched narratives beside memories, questions and lived perspectives without forcing agreement.

8. Sounding the Web

Explore music, field sound, voice and silence as ways of experiencing place.

9. Assembly, Editing and Legacy Choices

Select, combine or reject material and decide what should remain private, public or in development.

10. On-site Rehearsal and Readiness

Test the experience on location, including access, timing, participant comfort and contingencies.
